Welcome to this video where I'll be discussing 6 Brain Exercises to Strengthen Your Mind. First on the list is to brush your teeth with the opposite hand. This may sound simple, but it actually helps to stimulate new neural pathways in your brain. Second, switch your senses. For example, try to identify different objects around you by touch instead of sight. This helps to improve your sensory perception and can even increase your creativity. Third, puzzles are a great way to challenge your mind and keep it sharp. From crosswords to Sudoku, puzzles help to enhance your problem-solving skills and memory retention. Fourth, play the switching game. This includes making the V and O shapes with your fingers, the circle-triangle game, and even trying to write with both hands. These exercises can improve your coordination, fine motor skills, and cognitive flexibility. Fifth, give up technology. Take a break from your phone, laptop, and other electronic devices. Instead, read a book, go for a walk or engage in a stimulating conversation with someone. This helps to reduce mental fatigue and improve your focus and attention span. Lastly, do something different. Engage in new activities, learn a new language, or take up a new hobby. These types of experiences help to challenge your brain and promote the growth of new neural connections. So, there you have it, 6 Brain Exercises to Strengthen Your Mind. Incorporate these exercises into your daily routine and start seeing the benefits today. Exercise gives your brain a “bubble bath of neurochemicals,” says Wendy Suzuki, a professor of neural science. Subscribe to Big Think on YouTube ► 🤍 Up next, Forensic accountant explains why fraud thrives on Wall Street ► 🤍 Exercise can have surprisingly transformative impacts on the brain, according neuroscientist Wendy Suzuki. It has the power not only to boost mood and focus due to the increase in neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline, but also contributes to long-term brain health. Exercise stimulates the growth of new brain cells, particularly in the hippocampus, improving long-term memory and increasing its volume. Suzuki notes that you don’t have to become a marathon runner to obtain these benefits — even just 10 minutes of walking per day can have noticeable benefits. It just takes a bit of willpower and experimentation. 0:00 My exercise epiphany 1:35 What is “runner’s high”? 2:40 The hippocampus & prefrontal cortex 3:32 Neuroplasticity: It’s never too late to move your body Read the video transcript ► 🤍 About Wendy Suzuki: Dr. Wendy A. How to improve your improve your memory, sharpen your attention and focus, and boost your brain health? These gymnastics for the brain were developed by Yoshiro Tsutsumi, a Japanese researcher and author of the book Finger Self-Massage Yoshiro Tsutsumi. Starting From Scratch. The set of simple exercises described in this work focuses on improving general well-being and supporting brain health. If you repeat this short finger workout on a daily basis, the stimulation traveling from your fingers directly to your brain will help to rejuvenate your body and make your brain more efficient. Each fingertip has more than 3,000 mechanoreceptors, which act as a highway to your brain (particularly its sensory cortex). When you do a finger workout, you improve synapse connections and fire neurons, which is great for the functioning of your brain. TIMESTAMPS: Exercise #1 1:39 Exercise #2 2:45 Exercise #3 4:01 Exercise #4 5:03 Exercise #5 6:41 Exercise #6 7:06 Exercise #7 7:29 Exercise #8 8:42 Exercise #9 9:02 #brainexercises #memoryimprovment #brainhealth Music by Epidemic Sound 🤍 SUMMARY: - #1. Repeat this exercise 15 times. Your breathing should be a bit faster than usual. The most important thing is to do the exercise smoothly and not to hurry. Try not to lower your hands, and coordinate your movements and breathing. - #2. Repeat each movement at least 10 times. Your breathing should be rhythmical, and your fingers should be spread as much as possible. - #3. Repeat these movements at least 10 times. Make sure you bend and straighten each finger thoroughly and completely. - #4. When the brain ages, your memory, attention span, and concentration weaken. Luckily, this finger workout can help you deal with this problem. The following exercises will help you improve your memory. - #5. First of all, tightly press together the fingertips of your thumb and index finger on your right hand. You should slightly curve the uppermost part of your index finger. Repeat this exercise 20 times for each hand. - #6. With the fingertip of the thumb on your right hand, press down on the bottom of your right index finger, middle finger, ring finger, and pinky in turn. You should apply effort to do this exercise. After you repeat this motion 20 times, do the same for your left hand. - #7. As you've probably understood, your brain is tightly connected to your hands. Since most people have one dominant hand, the brain hemisphere connected to this hand is more developed than the other one. Thus, lefties have a more active right hemisphere, and right-handed people enjoy a more developed left hemisphere. To activate both hemispheres, you can try the following exercises. - #8. Try to perform everyday activities like brushing your teeth, eating, opening doors, or writing with the help of your nondominant hand. This can develop new connections between the 2 hemispheres of your brain and encourage the activity of the less vigorous hemisphere. - #9. Start to write by hand more. This activity provides perfect brain stimulation and improves neuroplasticity. Specialists recommend this method to patients who suffer from memory issues or dementia. The foundation of our content comes from Brain Education, an academic study from South Korea that stems from over 40 years of research and application and has been practiced by millions around the world. WHY WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH… We suffered from high-functioning loneliness and depression our whole lives. We lived different lives in different states, but when we met, we realized we were struggling with common issues that reflected an important problem in our young adult generation. We didn’t know who we were, what we were passionate about, what we should live for, and what direction our lives were “supposed” to go. We spent a lot of time wandering in search of that magical ‘answer’ that will solve all problems (like I’m sure most of you are doing right now), and yet the further we searched outside, the more pronounced the emptiness inside of us felt. Millions of people suffer silently from mental health related issues. Yet our society still places taboos around openly talking about relevant mental health topics like loneliness, depression, and anxiety. As a result, our young adults don’t know how to talk about it constructively, where to turn to, or what resources they have to combat this real-life threat to their wellbeing. 🤍 Get memory training tips at link above now Keep Your Brain Alive Book: 🤍 If you want to keep your brain strong and young these are some brain exercises that I learned from the book Keep Your Brain Alive. Nuerobics means using your brain in new and different ways involving all of your senses. This will wake up your brain. Here are neurobic brain exercises. Here are a few of them: 1. Search for coins in your pocket and use your sense of touch trying to figure out what the coin is 2. Close your eyes and walk around your house trying to remember where the furniture is. You are testing your memory and making your memory work in a way it isn't used to working 3. Invent conversations when watching the tv and the volume is on mute. This is a great brain exercises 4. Do things that get you out of your normal thinking patterns. If you normally read magazines about motorcycles then read a magazine about gardening. Get out of your normal thinking patters. 5. A brain exercise for me is to watch political commentators that I don't think they way they do. This is a brain exercise 6. Take a new way home. This wakes up your brain 7. Write with your non dominant hand as a brain exercise 8. Close your eyes and try to identify spices by their smell. You are engaging your sense of smell in a new way I think this is a great book full of brain exercises. This is not my book nor do I get anything if you buy it but I really enjoyed the book on nuerobics and brain exercises and I think you should check it out 🤍 Link above has great memory training tips

Are you 'left brain' or 'right brain'? Do you know the difference? Keep practicing with our FREE Brain Tune Course: 🤍tion/brain-tune You've probably heard that people are supposed to be one or the other and, in a way, there is some evidence that each of the two hemispheres of the brain tend to be activated for different kinds of tasks. Your Right brain for things that engage your your creative side and Left brain for actions that require reasoning and logic. A 'Right-brain' person tends to be more relaxed, artistic, spontaneous and imaginative. A 'Left brain' person is often busy, systematic, notices details and has an orderly, common-sense approach to life. But the truth is, of course, that EVERY memory task works better if ALL areas of the brain are used. This exercise helps you practise using both sides of the brain. Try it several times! To find out more about Right brain, Left brain, check out 'Seven Second Memory: Memory techniques that will change your life' by Gillian Eadie and Dr. Allison Lamont. This video is based on the science of Neuroplasticity: The brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. Neuroplasticity allows the neurons (nerve cells) in the brain to compensate for injury and disease and to adjust their activities in response to new situations or to changes in their environment. When we narrow our minds, it's very difficult to make changes in our lives. We continue to face the same challenges day after day with very little or no progress. This applies towards everything we face, especially PAIN. When we can succeed in one thing, that should boost our confidence for future endeavors. We must stretch our minds so we can break through those obstacles to achieve a pain-free and happy life. Please share your comments below. Many Blessings! Dr M Make sure you like us on facebook: 🤍 Please leave your reviews if you wouldn't mind taking the time. Thank you.

Here, Wendy Suzuki, professor of neural science and psychology, tackles the question: What happens to your brain when you exercise?

Brain Education TV provides mental health and mental wellness videos to help young adults with loneliness, depression, and anxiety. We credit Brain Education for giving us the courage to overcome our own mental health struggles and create the lives we want...and now we hope you can too through the videos we share on this channel.
