Meet the new Skoda Enyaq vRS Coupe! It’s the sportier, more stylish brother to the regular Enyaq SUV, and Mat’s about to find out if it has what it takes to live alongside the rather impressive regular Enyaq! One of the key differences is the exterior design. Around the back, you’re treated to a sporty sloping roofline, along with a sporty bumper and reflective light strip that comes exclusively with this vRS mode. There’s also some vRS badging spread about the car, while up front there’s a dazzling crystal grille that even lights up! Take a step inside the styling largely mirrors that of the regular SUV. However, that’s not exactly a bad thing! Sure the digital dials could be a bit larger, and we’d prefer to have a few more physical buttons, but generally, it’s a pretty spacious, well-laid-out SUV. In terms of performance, all Enyaq Coupes come with a 77kWh battery pack, with the range-topping being able to deliver a claimed range of 339 miles. There are three motor options to choose from, with this vRS coming with dual motors for an output of 299hp. But should you really spend £55,000 on this vRS Coupe? Quiet electric car with a loud paintjob The Skoda Enyaq SUV might be one of our favourite electric cars of the moment - it won our Electric SUV Megatest video back in 2021 - but one thing it doesn't do is shout or show off. Yes, it looks good enough to be convincing among its numerous electric SUV rivals, but it's more the car's practicality, quality and grown-up driving manners that mark it out. Until now, that is, with the arrival of the new Enyaq Coupe. This new swoopier-roofed version cuts quite a bit more of a dash than the regular Enyaq, in much the same way as the Volkswagen ID.5 does when compared to the more soberly styled ID.4 SUV. In fact, it's even more pertinent to mention the VW offerings here, because the Skodas sit on the same mechanicals. The sporty vRS version of the Enyaq Coupe tested here has exactly the same drivetrain as the more expensive ID.5 GTX. That means two electric motors combining to give 300 horsepower for a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.4 seconds, and the motors are fed by a 77kWh battery pack that's good for an official WLTP range of 323 miles. Skoda Enyaq Coupe vRS iV is a supped-up version of the standard Enyaq, here in coupe-ish body style. The Skoda Enyaq iV (Skoda plug-ins and EVs carry the iV designation as in “innovative vehicle”) is an SUV-coupe on the MEB platform. This is a platform designed specifically for electric vehicles in the Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen's ID models including the Buzz, the Cupra Born and Audi's smaller e-trons are also built on the same platform. In terms of dimensions, the Enyaq is about the size of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Something between the Mazda CX-5 or Volkswagen ID.4 and the Skoda Kodiaq or Mitsubishi Outlander. The coupe version has a slightly smaller trunk than the SUV and is minimally larger than the Volkswagen ID.5, which I reviewed a few months ago. And since I reviewed the most powerful GTX version, I can now compare it with the sporty(ish) variant of the Enyaq - the vRS. The solid Mamba Green finish is exclusive to the RS models in the ENYAQ iV family; all the colours offered for the range are available as options. Included as standard, acoustic glazing employs a special film on the front side windows to reduce noise levels in the interior. The rear side windows and the rear window are tinted. The ENYAQ RS iV offers a spacious interior, comfortably seating five people, with particularly generous space in the rear thanks to the elimination of the centre tunnel. The overall aesthetic of the interior is dominated by black, in true RS style. The comprehensive standard equipment includes sports seats with integrated headrests and RS logos as well as a three-spoke multifunction sports leather steering wheel featuring the RS badge. Multifunction buttons and knurls can be used to adjust the steering wheel heating and recuperation levels, among other settings. In addition, the steering wheel has hand recognition, which some assistance systems use to determine whether the driver is in control of the vehicle. Three-zone climate control comes as standard, as does the Phone Box for inductive smartphone charging and LED ambient lighting, which also lights up the instrument cluster. A carbon finish is used for the trim on the instrument cluster and doors, while the pedals come complete with a polished aluminium look. An electric tailgate, including Virtual Pedal, provides convenient access to the 585-litre boot, which can be expanded to 1,710 litres by folding down the rear seatbacks. Mamba Green is exclusively reserved for the ENYAQ COUPÉ RS iV. The body of the new coupé is characterised by athletic, elegant lines. Sporting its own, distinct front apron, it looks different to the ENYAQ iV, its body-coloured side skirts are also exclusive to the ENYAQ COUPÉ iV and make the car look even more elongated. From the B-pillar, the roofline gently slopes towards the rear and seamlessly merges with the sharp rear trailing edge. ‘ŠKODA’ in block lettering on the tailgate is another eye-catching detail. The black panoramic glass roof (standard feature), spanning the entire roof and seamlessly merging with the low-lying rear window, accentuates the coupé’s elegant lines. It is the largest panoramic glass roof in the ŠKODA range, spanning the entire roof and seamlessly merging with the rear window. It is thinner than the full roof, providing plenty of headroom for the car’s occupants. The panoramic glass roof allows more daylight into the interior, giving the car a more airy feel. Its coating helps to ensure that the climate within the cabin is pleasant at all times. Striking contrasts are provided by the chrome surround of the ŠKODA grille and chrome window trim. The ENYAQ COUPÉ SPORTLINE iV and ENYAQ COUPÉ RS iV look even more dynamic. Featuring a sports chassis as standard, they are 15 mm lower at the front and 10 mm at the rear. Sporty design details also include the surround of the ŠKODA grille, window trim and rear diffuser, which are all gloss black, as are the model designations, ŠKODA tailgate lettering and air curtain trim on the front apron. The air curtain trim is C-shaped on the SPORTLINE and comes with an additional centre piece forming an E on the RS variant. The ENYAQ COUPÉ RS iV, like all other RS models by the Czech carmaker, sports a full-length red reflector on its rear bumper. Both models come with acoustic front and rear side windows made of laminated glass that reduces the noise level in the interior, as well as dark tinted rear side and rear windows. The anthracite Vega alloy wheels on the ENYAQ COUPÉ SPORTLINE iV are 20 inches in diameter, while the optional 21-inch Supernova alloys are black. Complete review of the 2023 Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS ⚡⚡ Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS: Is this EV WORTH the RS badge? The Skoda Enyaq RS is one of the newest electric, sporty SUV's of 2022 and 2023. It is skoda's EV answer to cars such as the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q4 E-Tron and Volkswagen ID4 GTX. This Skoda on steroids features 2 electric motors and puts out a healty 299HP or 220kW. It also had 460NM of torque and puts it down via its AWD system. The Enyaq RS has plenty of traction and accelerates quick with a 0-100 time of 6,5 seconds (but of course we will test it for our self with Dragy GPS 😏). This Skoda Enyaq Coupe also has a 82 kWh lithium ion battery pack and has a WLTP range of 500km, but in real life you can expect somewhere around 405 kms of range for the RS Enyaq. its sleek coupe lines also make it more aerodynamic and efficient in comparison to the normal Enyaq iV. This is the new Skoda Enyaq! It’s fair to say that in 2021 electric SUVs are a bit like small, crossover SUVs have been for the past few years… They’re everywhere!! Well when it comes to performance, there are two options to choose from - the entry level ’60’, or the ’80’. In both options, the standard equipment includes carbon‑fibre‑effect decorative strips on the dashboard and door trim, pedal covers in aluminium design, and sports seats with integrated headrests and an RS emblem. In the Design Selection ‘RS Lounge’, the seats are upholstered in black Suedia microfibre featuring lime-coloured piping and contrasting stitching. The models fitted with the larger battery also feature a heated steering wheel with paddles to adjust the degree of energy recovery. The equipment can be expanded with ten optional packs arranged by elements, such as comfort, driving dynamics, climate control, assistance systems and infotainment. Most of these packages are available as a Basic as well as a Plus bundle. The range of options for climate control includes heated front and rear seats as well as a heated windscreen and, for the ENYAQ COUPÉ RS iV, tri-zone Climatronic. The ‘Seating Comfort’ pack offers electric seat adjustment; the Plus bundle also comprises a massage function for the driver’s seat. A selection of individual options is available for all models. The Czech carmaker with a rich history in motorsport currently offers five RS models: the Octavia RS, Octavia RS iV, Kodiaq RS, Enyaq Coupé RS iV and, most recently, the Enyaq RS iV. “The RS models are the link between our brand’s motorsport achievements and our customers who want to drive a Škoda car with a sporty DNA,” says Daniel Petr, Škoda’s in-house sports car design specialist. For many years, the backbone of the RS model range has been the Octavia RS, the brand’s best-selling model range has been available in this guise since the facelift of the first generation. In the current fourth generation, it has even been given a new type of powertrain. In addition to the petrol version with 180 kW (245 hp) and the diesel version with 147 kW (200 hp), there is also a plug-in hybrid version, the Octavia RS iV, which delivers a total output of 180 kW (245 hp) thanks to the combination of a 1.4 TSI and an electric motor.
