Give your digital video some analog noise with a VHS effect. Start from scratch, or download practice files [🤍 for a head start. Steps below. Prep your project: 1. Create a new project in Premiere Pro (File – New – Project). Click OK. 2. Import the video clip included in the zipped practice file (File – Import). 3. Right-click the video clip in the Project panel and choose “New Sequence From Clip.” Tip: Make sure you are in the Editing workspace (Window – Workspaces – Editing). 4. Click New Item from the Project panel, choose Adjustment Layer, click OK, and drag the Adjustment Layer from the Project panel to the timeline above the video clip. Drag the Adjustment Layer so it is the same length as the video clip. Apply glitchy effects: 1. Switch to the Effects workspace (Window – Workspaces – Effects). 2. Qu'il soit réel ou artificiel comme dans cette vidéo, l'effet vieille cassette est culte. Cependant, je n'ai trouvé aucune vidéo expliquant comment faire cet effet sonore. Pour la vidéo pas de problème, mais pas pour le son. Et du coup, c'est là que j'interviens ! Dans cette vidéo, je vais vous expliquer comment créer cet effet d'une part, visuellement a ma manière, car il existe tout un tas de façon de le faire qui donne une texture et un visuel différent a chaque fois. Et d'autre part, de façon sonore, comment avoir cet effet dans la voix qui donne ce son de vieille télé. Cet effet-là se fait surtout aux USA, c'est principalement dans les séries ou films qui se passent dans les années 70 - 80 qu cet effet est présent, a la seule différence que la plupart du temps, ce ne sera pas un effet, mais une vraie vieille télé qui saute, comme dans les films américains, littéralement du coup. On n'a pas de tournage, on passe directement au montage. Montage : La particularité de cet effet est qu'il va regrouper un grand nombre d'effets superposés. Pour le réaliser visuellement et auditivement, j'ai dénombré pas moins de sept effets différents, ou presque. Petit disclaimer, attention a bien respecter l'ordre d'ajout des différents effets durant la création de notre visuel de la VHS, on y va ! Le premier effet va être le bruit. On va venir (pour une fois) rajouter volontairement du grain dans notre vidéo. Dans option d'effet, vous allez augmenter le pourcentage de grain dans votre image à 15 %. On veut ajouter du grain, mais il ne faut pas que ça devienne affreux non plus. Ensuite, on va ajouter l'onde progressive. Pour lui, vous allez passer la forme de l'onde de sinusoïdale, a dent de scie. Vous augmentez la période de 40 à 600, vous passez l'angle de 90° à 180°. Et enfin vous changez la vitesse en la passant de 1 a 0.5. Cet effet va nous être encore utile un peu plus tard, mais pas avec les mêmes réglages. On va modifier la couleur de notre image en lui donnant une teint un peu sépia. Pour cela, on va ajouter du jaune et du vert dans l'image. Vous allez augmenter la température de votre image à 60 pour le jaune et baisser votre teinte à -30 pour le vert. Enfin, on va enlever du contraste pour une image plus plate, vous le mettez a -30. Une fois tout ça de fait, vous allez imbriquer votre séquence, car premiere pro n'aime pas trop avoir des tonnes d'effets qui s'empilent pour bien les gérer. Et une fois que c'est fait, on remet un coup d'onde progressive avec les réglages suivant : - Forme : rectangle - Amplitude : 2 - Période : 5 - Angle : 0 - Vitesse : 1 Et vous allez à nouveau imbriquer votre séquence. On va détacher nos trois couleurs primaires avec l'effet "aberrations chromatiques". Vous passez l'aberration rouge de -10 à -5 et l'aberration bleue de 10 a 5. Pour enfin changer la distance de retrait de 50 à 40. Pour finir avec le visuel, on va mettre l'effet mosaïque pour grossir nos pixels et gagner un peu plus de vieillesse dans notre image. Vous augmentez les deux valeurs à 400. Et vous avez votre effet visuel. Pour l'effet sonore, c'est très simple. Vous allez ajouter sur votre audio un égaliseur paramétrique et passer les pré-configurations en radio ancienne et votre effet est terminé. Je vous invite à bidouiller un peu cet effet pour avoir un timbre de voix unique.

I went online to look for tutorials on YouTube for creating a vintage VHS effect. And to be honest what I found wasn’t really what I needed. These tutorials generally involved a lot of After Effects work and the results they were making looked cool, and suited to the music videos and stylised graphics they were applying these effect to. But it didn’t look like actual VHS footage, and that’s what I needed. So I set about trying to make an effect myself. Having grown up in the 1980s, I have a lot of old retro family videos shot on VHS. So I referred back to these to try and find out what the fundamentals of this look were. I managed to break it down to its key components and what’s interesting, is that you can do most of this stuff just natively in Premiere Pro. In this video, I’m going to show you how you can put a vintage 1980s VHS effect on your videos, just using Premiere Pro. I’m going to do this in two ways: Firstly I’m going to show you a pack of motion graphics templates that I’ve made, and that you can download, where you just need to drag and drop your footage into the media replacement window, and it will add these emulations. But if you don’t want to download the pack, don’t worry.
